Erectile Dysfunction Treatment

What is LISWT?

Low Intensity Shock Wave Therapy (LISWT) is a cure for Erectile Dysfunction that is totally pain-free, has no reported side effects and has the ability to help the body create new blood flow to the penile area by producing acoustic waves which penetrate the genital region. Unlike other forms of treatment, our services deal with the cause rather than the symptoms. In many cases, spontaneous natural intimacy can once again be enjoyed. With advancing age, disease, diabetes and various medications, blood flow to the penis decreases. LISWT can restore circulation to what it once was. LISWT can even have an impact on post-surgical conditions if administered soon after.

The Science

Low-intensity extracorporeal shock wave therapy (LI-ESWT), is a novel modality that has recently been developed for treating erectile dysfunction ( ED).  Unlike current options for treating ED, all of which are palliative in nature, LI-ESWT aims to restore the erectile mechanism in order to enable natural spontaneous erections.  LI-ESWT induces cellular micro trauma, which in turn stimulates the release of angiogenic factors and the subsequent neovascularization of the treated tissue.  High and medium intensity shock wave therapy is well known for being employed for lithotripsy, non-union fractures, tendinitis, bursitis etc. In contrast, LI-ESWT has angiogenic properties used for chronic wounds, peripheral neuropathy, and cardiac neovascularization.

LI-ESWT generates a significant clinical improvement of erectile function and penile hemodynamics WITHOUT ANY PAIN OR ADVERSE EFFECTS.  Moreover, it does not create a systemic overload or harm to any organs or healthy tissue.

Current management of ED consists of oral phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5I) and/or intracavernosal injections. While these treatments are effective they do not address the underlying pathophysiology. LI-ESWT of the corpora cavernosa may regain the intimacy and spontaneity ED patients are seeking.

The clinical improvement in erectile function, together with the significant improvement in penile hemodynamics, has created a new standard of care for ED patients with or without the use of PDE5I.  In recent double-blind studies, in large control groups, clinical improvements in erectile function and satisfaction have been observed in as little as two weeks and lasting up to two years.

Typical treatment involves two applications of LI-ESWT to the crura (left and right crus) and two applications to the shaft of the penis. Total time per session is approximately 20 minutes.  Usual treatment protocol is 8 visits over a four week interval depending on the severity, aetiology, and duration of the ED.

LI-ESWT is not presently covered by any government plans and many clinics offering this form of therapy are price prohibitive for many patients.  We have made treatment more affordable and available.

Our discreet, low profile clinic uses state of the art equipment and our highly trained staff only books one session at a time to prevent patient overlap.

We are hoping to help you manage your ED patients under your guidance with quality, discreet and affordable care.
